Nuit noire, lune pratiquement pleine.

❝blood and flowers❞
Cassian && Ysolte

The moon is shining bright in the sky, dropping on the world a beautiful white light. The only thing Cassian is thankful for is not being a Twilight’s vampire, because under the full moon, he would presently shiny like a diamond. He could not feel heat on his skin, nor make a cool tan to show off at school – he never tanned, not even when he was alive, in fact. It does not stop him from closing his eyes and raise his face towards the moon, pretending. Pretending because even thought he can walk for a time under the burning sun, he can’t stay long before his skin starts to scorch – you know, like redheads who always run away from the rays of sunlight, not to burn their delicate skin. Anyhow, after taking in the only light he can endure, his gaze fell on his lap again, where lies the muggle book he quite enjoy. He starts his reading again, unfocused on what is happening around him. Here, in the woods, he can forget all about school. He can forget his place, and the chip stuck inside his fucking head. It will drive him crazy at some point, he’s sure of it. Hunting under his animagus form is not the same, the satisfaction no way as great as real hot blood from a slender neck, a pulsing vein only waiting for his fangs to plunge and him to drink.

For now, it’s the broken sound of branches that catch his attention, bringing his head to jolt up, trying to see what could have made that sound. It’s a sure thing that the branches didn’t break themselves, so who is the guilty culprit? Ransacking the shadows under the woods, his gaze finally stops unto a dark figure, a hooded foreigner with a steady beating heart. In truth, he heard that before he saw anything, and he’s a little bit surprise that he didn’t heard it sooner. Maybe his book really caught him up. Cassian says hi, and the stranger take time before finally deciding to say something back, and the vampire guess that he’s speaking with a girl. Bonne lecture à vous, Maybe it’s a student, that would explain why she make no move to come closer, even if he made clear that he saw her there. I have to admit my surprise of seeing someone else in the woods so late at night. I wonder, have you lost something precious? Not that he wonders that much, but he’s indeed curious to know who this potential girl is and what she’s doing here. Cassian is what you can call a curious wizard, but not a lot of things can entertain that curiosity. But meeting someone, surely a student, in the Forbidden Forest is sure interesting- and odd, maybe, but odd aint’t really a problem in the blonde vampire bloodshot eyes.

❝blood and flowers❞
Cassian && Ysolte

You aren’t quite clear on how it had started.

It all began with the MacFusty Clan and their long-life traditions, resting on centuries of habits. If the role of leader was transmitted from father to son, the choice of the speciality was personal, as long as it covered the Clan’s needs. You didn’t have to think for a long time: as a foregone conclusion, you announced at age five that you wanted to be a botanist, the best they ever had. The Elders restrained a laugh, trying to talk you out of it. They feared it was a child’s whim, that you’d change your mind. Only, they didn’t know you were doing it for yourself: your peregrinations in the heart of Barra’s forest had opened your appetite. You only dreamed of assimilating knowledge, helping others, living a wild life without restrictions. Plants were easier to handle than human beings – with the mandrake’s exception, they were all quiet.

And now, twelve years later, you are sneaking out in the Forbidden forest, hoping you wouldn’t cross path with anyone, looking for the hard earned Moondew, which only blossomed when the moon was at its full. In your mind, the Forbidden forest isn’t as bad as Barra’s one; even though it’s full of magical creatures, you know you won’t end up face to face with a Hebridean Black. Those creatures are deadly.

Is the man standing in clearing lightness as dangerous as they are? You couldn’t tell and, truth be told, you don’t want to know. Staying amidst the shadows, you try to keep a low profile – but you can feel his gaze upon your shoulders. How can he? Torned between curiosity and self-preservation, you run through your options.
First option: run away without second thoughts.
Second option: stay quiet and unresponsive.
Third option: get ready to battle … even though you’re lacking talent in charms.
Fourth option: stop the nonsense.
“I have to admit my surprise of seeing someone else in the woods so late at night. I wonder, have you lost something precious?”
And here he talks again. Nervously, you fiddle with your shirt-tail, your heart missing another beat. You’re not sweating yet, but you’re not fond of the situation. Getting caught before the end of your seventh year isn’t part of the plan.
“ And sae am I ”, you answer in whisper with your thick Scottish accent. Even though you know English, it’s not your native language. On Barra’s island, traditions run deep: Gaelic is the first language, and sometimes the only one when it comes to the Elders or uneducated Clan members.
“ I dinnae lose anythin’, be rested. I won’t imporrtune ye much longer. My apologies fo’ the disturrbance.” As your mom said million times, courtesy can buy you a free pass. However, you stay in the tree’s cover, still too scared to walk under the moonlight.
“ Parrdon my curiosity … wha’ arre  ye doing in the forrest? By night? Readin’? How can ye even read?”
Oh, curiosity killed the cat – at this rate, it might as well kill you.

Night is long when you hug the shadows, and that one seems quite determined to stay hidden. Not that the librarian can blame the possible student: not one of them, all years mixed, have the permission to come into the Forbidden Forest – for obvious matters. But Cassian never does things like others, and so he don’t jump on occasions to punish students, finding it way more interesting to learn about their motivations to break the rules instead. To come here of all places, that should be an interesting story. And sae am I. A response that should not, and is not, a surprise. After all, he’s reading in the middle of the night, not caring if something scary comes out to get him. Ah ah. Since he’s a predator, he got nothing to fear, but still has to play the only-a-wizard card for the Hogwart’s population. I dinnae lose anythin’, be rested. I won’t imporrtune ye much longer. My apologies fo’ the disturrbance. His head denies the disturbance by moving left to right while the maybe-girl speaks. Never has she left the cover of the night, not knowing in fact that it changes nothing with his cat-eyed ability. But even then he cannot put a name on the face he can barely see for now, and that only make his interest grow. Oh, don’t worry about that. I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t want to be disturbed, actually. He looks around with a small silly smile, because even thought he may not be attacked, some creature could still jump in the clearing and disturb his quiet picnic.
And maybe that remark made it way in the student brain, or maybe the surely-girl is only curious, but his smile grew wider when she speaks again. Parrdon my curiosity … wha’ arre ye doing in the forrest? By night? Readin’? How can ye even read? So many good questions, and if they were in different circumstance, maybe he would have told her the truth. Because in other circumstance, her death would have been at the end of the conversation- even her student status wouldn’t have saved her. For that, he would have to do the same thing he always did; say everything he wants except the truth. Should you believe it or not, I do have really good eyes- and with the full moon, it’s enough for me to be able to read. As for what I’m doing, only enjoying the night out, reading and tanning under the moonlight. I have to admit that I’m quite fond of picnicking at night, he rambles with ease, even lifting a hand in the direction of the moon when he mentions it. She’ll take and believe what she wants, he doubt she’d say anything to contradict him, but maybe it’ll bring up more questions. And if she ask any more questions, surely she’ll have to step out of the shadows, right? I presume your duty here’s confidential, since you didn’t respond yourself? He chooses to add, new question where only his curiosity show. He would not push harder if once more the student would choose for herself evasion of the question, but Cassian can’t help his curiosity. Sometimes, life could be has much trilling than a book. Even for a broken vampire like himself.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. I wouldn’t come here if I didn’t want to be disturbed, actually,” says the man in the clearing. There’s something quite odd with the guy – but you can’t put your finger on it. Is it not-so-hidden-but-clearly-sly smile? Is it his assertive attitude? You can’t tell – can’t even tell if he’s real. After all, he might as well come out of your own mind. So far, you haven’t walk this deep in the forbidden forest, and you wouldn’t be surprised if the forrest is trying to trick you.

Fists clenched, you’re trying to stay calm as still water. For the moment, shadows are protecting you – but curiosity draws you out. Questions flow out of your mouth, and here you are, a step closer to the clearing, in plain sight.
“Should you believe it or not, I do have really good eyes – and with the full moon, it’s enough for me to be able to read.” Scowling, you find it hard to believe. Yet, you’re one step closer, frowning to find out who that guy is. “As for what I’m doing, only enjoying the night out, reading and tanning under the moonlight. I have to admit that I’m quite fond of picnicking at night”, he adds, thinking (maybe) it’d alleviate your questioning. He couldn’t be more wrong.
“Would the night be mor’ enjoyable spent in the park ?” You ask once again, trying to keep all your good manner. You’re still uncertain with the situation, not knowing if you could trust this “moonlight tanned” guy. For all you know, he could be an escaped lunatic, straight out from Azkaban... or from St Mungo’s. “ … except if you’re enjoying the thrill of the unknown and unpredictable?”, you add wisely, clenching your fingers around your wand. You’re not an good duellist, to say the least – but you’d stupefix him without second thoughts.

And while you’re thinking of hexing him, you walk forward. Your foot squeals against the cold ground, but you don’t really care. Should you? All you want, now, is to have a glance at him. You want to put a name on his face, if possible.
“I presume your duty here’s confidential, since you didn’t respond yourself?” You did, respond yourself … didn’t you? Frowning, you’re looking for a way around, thinking of keeping quiet. Buy now that you’re out of the shadows, you might as well say the truth. Part of it, at least.
“I dinnae lose anythin’, as I told ye, even though I’m lookin’ fo’ somethin’”. You can’t help but baguette your tongue. It’s time to go, it’s time to go. “ Per chance, have ye encountered some … Moondew? It’s a … rare type of flower.” Again, you couldn’t help but ask … not sure what to do if his answer was positive.
“’Cause all I’ve seen tonight is a mad man”, you mutter, in a voice so low no human being could possibly hear.

blood and flowers
ysolte macfusty & cassian aquila (ysian)
Dark woods, dark smile and sly smile. You feel like a predator again tonight, looking up at the non-lost student who’s still far away from the castle – who’s without protection. You can see it all play in your mind, the fact that you could jump her right now and then and drink her blood while hearing her screams. Or cover up her mouth tu be sure to stay unseen, and go back to reading your book like nothing happened. Not that you really want to kill that girl, less when you recognize that she’s one of those MacFusty, the masters of the dragons. You just smile even more, remembering the last one you’ve met- Abigaëlle. You hope that one is at least as interesting as the Slytherin brunette was- and somehow, you don’t doubt for a minute.
Who could believe you had so good eyes that you could read only with the light of the moon? Full or not full changes nothing, it’s not naturel for a human being. Still, you say it like it’s like it’s the most normal thing in the world- adding that it’s her choice to believe you or not. « Would the night be mor’ enjoyable spent in the park ? … except if you’re enjoying the thrill of the unknown and unpredictable? » Your smile grow wider then, liking the fact that she can connect the dots without you having to say it out loud - visibly, if you're crazy enough to be in the middle of the forest, it's because you laugh in the face of danger. « Your words are right, Miss. The park's beautiful but I know it by heart. But the woods never stays the same, making it much more interesting. Don't you agree? »

More and more she steps under the moonlit night, not that needed that to see her better. You ask her again about her reasons to be here, because she may have answered a few seconds ago, your curiosity isn't satisfied. You're convinced that she's not the first, nor the last, student who came in the Forbidden Forest to look for something. Trouble, satisfy curiosity, win a challenge- and sometimes for more serious reasons. « I dinnae lose anythin’, as I told ye, even though I’m lookin’ fo’ somethin’ » Your head falls a little on the side, inviting the brunette to tell you more about her search. « Per chance, have ye encountered some … Moondew? It’s a … rare type of flower. » Flowers and plants may not be your cup of tea, but Moondew, you do think you saw blue petals where the forest meet with the lake. « I can't be quite sure since books are my addiction, but I think I saw some near the lake- the part meeting a little bit with the Forbidden Forest. I could take you to the spot if you like. » You're curious to see if she'll say yes, or if she'll understand who you are by talking about books.
Maybe you shouldn't have, maybe you should have let the mystery grow and grow until she ask you who or what you are. But maybe you'll just have to wait and see for the rest to unfold.

« ’Cause all I’ve seen tonight is a mad man, » she adds in a murmur, one so low you wouldn't have heard if you weren't a vampire. But the fact is, you did understand, and you don't even pretend not to. On the contrary, a chuckle escape you- after all, you just have to say that your hearing is as good as your night vision. She may -even though there’s more chance that she may not- believe you or not, question you or not, it won’t make you less human until you do something inhuman. « Ain’t madness something that can keep a man sane? » you asked, your playful grin letting show your straight and white teeth. « Unless I misunderstood what you said, since you spoke quite quietly there. »
